So many of us are seeing that our livelihoods and that our investments are being impacted by the Internet-driven restructuring of the economy. Many believe that what has been unfolding in our economy since 2008 is just the opening phase of an economic revolution that has only been experienced twice before in human history.

The first was about 10,000 years ago when the human race transitioned from hunter-gathers to farmers.  The second was when the Industrial Revolution kicked off in 1769 as Richard Arkwright built the world’s first true factory in Derbyshire, England.  This caused a complete refashioning of the agrarian way of life and England was not recognizable from the nation it was a mere century before.

Mindset for the New Economy

What has been revealed over the past few years is that the impact of the Internet, and a few other structural imbalances (such as globalization and the bulge in the population from the baby boomers) … this impact is like the Perfect Storm and this impact is driving a traumatic change from an old economy to a New Economy.

Gutenberg’s invention (moveable type and the printing press) made the reproduction of books cheaper and easier, leading to structural changes (such as an increase in literacy, a progression of ideas and knowledge, and the Renaissance).  These changes proved to transform the course of human history.  The transition driven by Gutenberg’s invention, the structural changes, and the resulting transformation, was also turbulent and traumatic.

If you are like me, you might be feeling the pain.  The turmoil of the past decade is taking its toll on your career, your finances, and your lifestyle.  And you most likely are searching for a way to get back in the game and restore the lifestyle of your dreams.

However, the days of staying with one company for your entire career are over.  With frequent layoffs and downsizing, there are very few jobs that have a secure status.  As a result, a new generation of entrepreneurial-minded people are emerging and starting their own business.  They, like me, are back in the game and on the road to creating a better life for themselves and their families by taking control of their income and the way they spend their time.
